Nampa Model Aviators Club Meeting October 2026
Date: Oct 1, 2026 7PM
Location: NMA club field
30 attendees present
President’s welcome and report (Bruce Chandler):
Welcome to the newest members of NMA:
• Russell Strong from out of state, experienced modeler, joined earlier but made his first visit to the club field this evening. Welcome, Russell!
Big thanks to all who participated in the club Warbirds event on October 12th, and the Heli Day event on October 19th! Both events were well attended and turned out to be a great time for all participants. Special thanks to Tom Welty and Michelle Christy for setting up the food for each event and delivering a great barbecue, which is always much appreciated.
Treasurers Report (Bill Kluckhohn):
• Club treasury is currently holding $6,296.45 in checking, $3244.85 in savings, and $11,117.96 in interest-earning reserve. We are in excellent financial shape for whatever unanticipated needs may arise. Club members are always appreciated for their spirit of volunteerism and dedication that makes the club work like a well-oiled machine.
Club Announcements (Don Bailey):
- We are currently at 120 general and family members to date
- Hats, sweatshirts, jackets, tee shirts, and travel mugs will be made available to purchase soon, with the club logo embroidered or printed. More info to come, such as style, sizes, features, etc., and will be presented to the club members as an order form that can be filled out and submitted with cash or check. More to come soon.
- On a sad note, long time member Ernie Moncarr has passed away recently— the club offers its sincere regrets to his family and friends. There will be a garage sale of Ernie’s hobby stuff on Saturday, October 17th at Ernie’s home, located at 2899 N. Silverleaf Way in Meridian. There will be lots of building materials, such as balsa wood, covering film, small hand tools, airplane hardware and radio gear, plus a few planes and kits. Doors open at 9AM.
Field Report (Bill Winberg):
- Canopies will be coming down this Thursday afternoon, October 8th, before the brutish weather arrives. Volunteers are needed to help with this, so that we can move the big tarps without damaging anything.
- Bruce Chandler reports the mowing of the field is still ongoing for the time being, and offers his thanks for the staff that is helping him with this effort. We need someone to take over for Wayne Warner with the edge trimming. This is an opportunity to participate with the grounds upkeep, so let Bruce know if you would be willing to take on this detail. Mowing happens every Thursday at noon.
- A black widow was spotted in amongst the stacked chairs. Be mindful of nature’s small surprises!
Club Business:
